Pray for Grant

We had the best time at the Mother's Against Cancer Luncheon on Monday. David and I were totally overwhelmed by the generosity of so many people. If you have not been to this function, plan on going next year. It was amazing. They had raffle tickets for one dollar that you could enter into the drawing for hundreds of different items. I believe that the raised $30,000 just on raffle tickets! And then there was a silent and live auction.

The decorations were just beautiful. On each table they had circles of kids with cancer and several of Claire and Grant. The program featured several pictures of Grant as well. It was truly just an amazing experience. Claire and Grant got to sit up on stage and pull all the tickets for the raffle items. The LOVED that. And after our family was introduced, David made such a wonderful speech. I was so proud of him.

The big hit of the day was the chocolate lab puppy that was featured in the live auction. Our family, especially Grant, fell in love with her. A couple of men went into a bidding war over the dog and the wonderful man that won ended up giving the dog to Grant. We are so excited to have Godiva as a new member of our family. She is just too cute. Thelma Lou, our yellow lab, is getting used to her. On the first night home, Godiva tried to nurse on T-lou. It was sooo sweet!

Also, one of the donations during the live auction was for a weeklong stay at a beautiful home in the Hill country. Not only will the person who won that get a fabulous vacation, but so will our family. Dr. Melissa Young is giving our family a trip there too. We can't wait to go!!!

Thanks again to all the wonderful people who have worked so hard to put the luncheon together, for all the generous donations, and for making Grant the honoree this year. We truly feel blessed.
