Pray for Grant

Sorry I did not update this on Monday. Have you ever had the feeling that if you say things are going well, that they will take a turn for the worse? Well, that is how I have felt, and still do, since we left the hospital. I will say this. Grant is acting great and is acting strong. His counts are ridiculously low though. His ANC (ability to fight infection) was almost 0 today, as I expected. I hated even taking him up there today for fear that he may get sick and spike a fever just being up there. We had to go in to the clinic this morning for a check-up and of course he needed a platelet transfusion. It took all day to get them ordered and for him to get transfused. I sat next to this guy who keep snorting and it was making my skin crawl with fear that he may sneeze on us!!! I hate living in fear all the time.

I feel terrible that we missed the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center awards luncheon. Both Holly Botyos and Tin Roof BBQ were up for awards for the blood drives they have hosted last year in Grant's honor. They were nominated for "best event of the year." That is really cool and I cannot say enough how proud I am of both of them and how honored our family feels to know them. Thank you for everything you have done for us this year. And again, I am so sorry we were not there today!

Please pray that Grant stays fever free through the weekend and that his counts come up and we get to avoid having to go back to the hospital unexpectedly.

Thanks again to everyone!!!

Melanie
